The 10 Most Important Players In 2009: #6
6. Derek Moye, WR (So.)--Frankly, this could have been Chaz Powell, Brett Brackett, Graham Zug, or any of the incoming Freshmen (like Justin Brown) . . . but Moye is the mostly likely to be this year's big play wide receiver. Moye has something Penn State receivers have not had since the likes of Bryant Johnson (2002) and Joe Jurevicius (1998): a fast wide receiver with legitimate size. Moye is a legit 6'5" 195 lbs. and is the fastest of the returning wide receivers, which makes him our 6th Most Important Player in 2009. It is not secret that Penn State must replace 3 of the most productive wide receivers in the school's history: Derrick Williams, Deon Butler, and Jordan Norwood. To even come close to that trio's production, the Nits will need big-time play from possession receivers Brackett and Zug, and even more so from a guy like Moye who can stretch the field vertically and be a threat in the red zone. Will Moye actually be that guy? I have no idea. But he is the most likely candidate based on spring practice updates and the Blue-White Game. No matter who steps-up, they will need to provide an adequate amount of production to help Daryll Clark and to balance what hopes to be a very strong running game.
